I missed the early-morning hot air balloon takeoff at yesterday’s Soar NWA, but I made it in time to catch the evening glow, as well as some Star Wars and InSpyral Circus performers. For the glow, the balloons stayed on or near the ground: giant nylon lanterns at the southern edge of urban northwest Arkansas. And I’m about ready for summer to take its annual sabbatical, but it was a great evening. 

Soar NWA, for the curious, is a fundraiser for the nonprofit Open Avenues, which helps out people with developmental disabilities. I finally got there after years of forgetting and seeing it after the fact.
